Hello My Name Is: Klops

Klops_HMNI_Insta-PUFF-02

Name: Klops
Crew: AOB & LOLC
City/Country: New York Fuckin’ City
When did you start writing? 2010

What’s graffiti for you?
Messages, characters, pieces, and tags.

Influences?
State Your Name, Style Wars, Satire, Comedy, 90’s cartoons.

Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there?
Too many fuckin people in NYC. Living is expensive. Alot of writers don’t last. To paint and stay up in the streets, you need speed, dedication, and RESPECT.

What keeps you still writing?
For that sweet ass spot that people wish they did.

What first made you interested in graffiti and how did you end up on that track?
When I played Marc Ecko’s Getting Up, I was like BRUH…

What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like?
Bitching and complaining on Instagram about how graff was, or about how it sucks now.

What do you do when you’re not painting?
Thinking about painting. And sex. And food.

How would you describe your style?
Cartoony.

Can you remember the first piece you did?
I snuck on to the roof at night at 5 pointz in 09 or 10. I knew you could get permission but i was a nobody in the graff scene so I just went up there and painted what I wanted.

Future plans?
Do more art shows.

Do you adapt your pieces and tags to the spot/surface?
That’s a must. Every spot is different. You gotta paint accordingly.

What do you think about the new generation of writers in your city?
Most of them bring zero style to the table so I don’t really care for a lot of them. The ones that I do fuck with, know who they are because I compliment their work.

What are the best and worst aspects of graffiti?
Seeing your work up and adding value to a shitty tagged up wall with something dope. Worst is all the bullshit graff-politics that come with painting and online keyboard-cowboys who talk shit and think they matter.

Who do you paint for? Myself, people who already dig my work and people who will.

What writers have inspired you?
JADceveKumaCecster & Nekst.

Can you ever feel tired of graffiti?
Yes. Sometimes you need to take a break from the bullshit that comes with doing it.

What do you hope people will think and feel when they see your stuff?
I hope they think I’m famous and important and throw money at me and girls cream their panties and slide in my DM. lol but really, hopefully they just enjoy it as much as I did.
