Hello My Name Is: Mile
Name: Mile
Crew: MIA & MFC
City/Country: Newcastle, Australia
When did you start writing? Shit, Must be a few years ago now…
What’s graffiti for you?
Graffiti is good reason to sit in bushes haha. Also to hang with good pals!
Influences?
I Have many, my main influences at the moment would be; Puke (MIA) and Kid Aero (MFC).
Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there?
Newcastle has some good places to paint, the weather here is good also. Newcastle has a long graffiti history and continues to produce some great writers.
What keeps you still writing?
Mray’S good home crooked meals give me the energy to paint! But mainly because I enjoy improving and trying new things!
What first made you interested in graffiti and how did you end up on that track?
I had a mate, when I was young, tell me about the graffiti in Sydney. I thought it sounded cool so I started doing it. I Also heard chicks dig writers!
What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like?
Im certainly not a fan of “anti style”. Because I just can’t get down with the fuzzy white highlights!
What do you do when you’re not painting?
I Think about painting, I also do normal people things.
How would you describe your style?
I would say my style is based off New York/Sydney style. Semi public but with a bit of wildstyle.
Can you remember the first piece you did?
Yes it wasn’t sweet! But it was a lot of fun!
Future plans?
Typical answer, travel and paint more!
Do you adapt your pieces and tags to the spot/surface?
I certainly do! It helps with the overall look of the piece.
What do you think about the new generation of writers in your city?
I think they are certainly doing good things!
What are the best and worst aspects of graffiti?
Best aspect of graffiti would be chrome pieces on a tin fence!
Worst would be copping a chase.
Who do you paint for?
The crew, myself.
What writers have inspired you?
Kid Aero has inspired me a lot! He is a natural talent and always comes correct with good letters and schemes to match! Shine, MIA inspires me to have fun with painting!
Can you ever feel tired of graffiti?
Yeah definitely. Seeing a fresh piece keeps me keen though!
What do you hope people will think and feel when they see your stuff?
I hope they would think “yeah nah yeah that’s choice mate!” Nah but seriously, I hope people enjoy it and get something out of it.
